Where are you located?

283 Photography is located in Sioux Falls, SD, and serves the entire midwest area and beyond, offering wedding photography, senior portraits, and more.

What do you charge for "travel time"?

I allow 60 free miles of travel.  Any travel after 60 miles from 283 Photography's address is $0.50/mile.  (I will travel at no extra charge to Minneapolis, MN)  The fee will be added at the time of payment on or before your wedding day.  I am willing to travel to most places!

How do I pay you, is it secure?

Payment for products/goods is made easy online through a secure checkout within your private gallery and ordering site.  I accept checks, credit cards, or cash. Checks and cash are required for sitting fees and deposits. For weddings, a 30% deposit is due when date is set, with the remainder due on or before the wedding day.  For portraits, a 50% deposit is due when date is set, with remainder due on or before session day. Taxes will be applied to all listed prices.  Please see the payments and products section for more information.

Are all of the photos you take included in the Online Gallery?

You're online viewing and ordering gallery will be available to you for 180 days (6 months).  I will take more photos than I present to you, only because there are most likely going to be shots with people blinking, duplicates, or other issues causing the photo to be deleted. However, I am confident that I will capture more than enough moments that will tell the story of your day creatively and in detail.  There is a high resolution DVD included with every wedding collection.  Digital files are available for purchase with portrait sessions.

Do you edit every image?

I sort every image and enhance as needed.  My goal is to have fantastic photos to start with, and only enhancing them with editing software.  I will take specific requests (such as removing imperfections) but generally use my best judgement when touching images up.  My true passion is spending time on individual favorites to give them a personal artistic touch.  There are usually MANY favorites, and I focus on these to add some textures, tints, and more to enhance both your results and my portfolio!  If you have a Facebook account, I upload sneak peeks, so you can have a preview of your photos well before you get your final results.

What is your style?  How do you interact with the people involved?

I strive to make people feel comfortable and confident while taking their photos.  I know how difficult it can be when on the other side of the camera (I personally get SO nervous!) and I feel that is my job to reassure you that you are doing fabulous, and if something doesn't look right and feels too "forced", it is my job to make sure that is fixed and doesn't show through in the results!  My style is mainly photojournalism, capturing a "story" of your day.  Of course, I take the formal photos that are mandatory on certain occasions, and always accept requests, but I have noticed that the most amazing photos come from capturing that surprising split moment and this is what I call my specialty.

How do you make sure to get a shot of every person we want?

Depending on the package you choose, we will meet either for an engagement session, a consultation or both before your wedding day and get to know eachother.  This is the time to discuss the expectations and desires.  We will also talk about your wedding day schedule and decide what the best process is for photos throughout the day.  It is important to schedule the photography into your wedding day in order to make sure everybody involved is aware of when they need to be participating.  There are some supporting documents you may fill out to help prepare for the photography portion of your day, and help you stay organized and stress - free.

How long do I need to wait before I can see and order the photos?

Please allow 3 weeks for family and child portraits and engagements, 1 month for senior portraits and 2 months for weddings from the day the photos are taken. You will then get an email from me with the link and password to your online gallery, as well as any other information regarding things included in collections, etc.  (However, I try to do my best with making your wait time as short as possible, and you will get sneek peaks along the way!)

What will you cover at my wedding?

Upon your engagement session/consultation, we will discuss your plans for preparation before the ceremony and beyond.  What you want covered during the day is up to you. From classic poses to spur-of-the-moment shots, my goal is to include a plentiful combination of different styles.   The most important thing is our connection.  My goal is to get to know the two of you and what your likes and dislikes are.  I really enjoy listening to your "love story"!

What is the next step? How do I schedule you as our photographer?

Contact 283 Photography and fill out the online form with your request, or simply email me at jessica@283photography.com.  I am always quick to respond to inquiries as soon as possible and communication is important to me.  Once scheduled, we can discuss the next steps and I will be with you 100% along the way to help you with any questions and planning needs that may arise!
