Roxie Jean / Newborn {Sioux Falls Lifestyle Photography}

Oh my, where to I begin with how much I adore and love this family?  Megan is my mom’s youngest sister, just three years older than I am.  We have always had a special bond, and I have always seen her as an older sister.  Since she moved here from Iowa a couple of years ago, her and I have gotten even closer, and I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing her and John grow an ADORABLE family together.  From their oldest son Miles, who just turned 3 years old, to Leo who is 1, and now their newest, their daughter Roxie, born on March 18, 2013.  I witnessed Roxie enter this world, and will forever be grateful for that opportunity.  Although I don’t do a lot of newborn sessions, I was thrilled when Megan asked me to set up a time to do hers.  When I showed up for the shoot, there was a plethora of props and outfits full of fluffiness and frill from tutus and ribbons and bows to vintage suitcases and children’s books and even a big branch with pretty fabric wraps to try to (carefully) hang her in  – I was in newborn photographer heaven, and I didn’t feel out of place one bit.  This is my cousin! 😉

The branch that John so dilently searched for outside was so perfect, and I love the color of the fabric Megan found.  So even though Roxie decided to all of a sudden be wide awake when it came time to try this maneuver, we still went ahead and did it just to see what we could get.  No, they aren’t going to win any contests anytime soon, but I still find them absolutely hilarious and had to share!

John came home with the boys after picking them up from daycare, and I couldn’t resist getting some pics of Leo on my way out the door!  Isn’t he sweet?
