Now that I am engaged, I have put a lot of thought into the many aspects of a wedding that can be personalized. Every detail counts, and as a photographer, I am always looking for those special details that brides put thought into and wanted at their wedding to make it truly their own unique creation. There are so many things to think about, it can be easy to overlook the itty bitty things that can make all the difference, especially in your wedding photos. So, I decided to dedicate a blog post for each item that I believe would be fantastic to include in your wedding – and trust me, your photographer will be so happy!
1. The Shoes – For some brides, this is one of the most important things, along their dress and their jewelry. But every so often, it can be overlooked, and the shoes could be purchased in haste or the bride might think, “who is going to notice them so much anyway, my dress will cover them?”. Wrong! I love to grab those shoes and other accessories that you will be adorned with before you have them on and get some great detail shots of them, telling the story of your day, and who you are and what style you had. This will be something your kids and your grandkids will love to look at in the future. Prefer plain white or ivory to match your dress? Great! Love a bright color to stand out against your dress? Perfect! Just make sure you love them. There are so many options out there, and you can always return a pair if you see something you like better later on! (just don’t wear them outside until your wedding day).

There are also some fabulous ideas to personalize your shoes even more. Decorative shoe clips are a trend right now, and these can make an inexpensive pair of shoes seem super fancy. Also, I have seen some girls bedazzle their shoes with jewels and gems, and put initials or dates on the bottoms of their shoes.

Grooms must not be overlooked here. There are many options out there for personalized shoes for the guys, too.

Other members of the wedding party should also think about their shoes. Bridesmaids can have fun with their shoes, whether they are all the same, or completely different!

And don’t think that just because there is snow or rain the shoes can’t be fun!

Even the flower girls can have fun with some funky shoes if you want them to 🙂

Don’t want to wear those high heels at the reception? Invest in two pairs of shoes, one pair for the ceremony, and one for the reception! This is even more fun to make the transition, yet still have the shoes be the perfect style for you and stay comfortable all at the same time.
